Mitigation System 6 (Highway 48)
Eco-Kare was retained by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation to install 600 m of temporary fence on a section of Highway 48 between Ravenshoe and Cryderman Road. The job entailed installing a fence that would last more than one year to accommodate a two to three year construction cycle. Eco-Kare used its drape design (also used on Highway 6), with a new fibreglass post that met MTO safety specifications for installation in the clear zone. Results look promising for a temporary 2 to 3 year fence design and further testing will look at thicker posts for improved durability in 2017.
